Apollo Hospitals Sheshadripuram Introduces Advanced iTIND Therapy for Young Men with Bladder Outlet Obstruction 

Apollo Hospitals Sheshadripuram has introduced iTIND (Temporary Implantable Nitinol Device), an advanced minimally invasive treatment for Primary Bladder Neck Obstruction (PBNO) and select benign prostatic conditions. With this launch, the hospital becomes the first in Bengaluru and Karnataka to offer iTIND and the first in the state to successfully complete 10 procedures using iTIND.  
 

Although urinary obstruction is commonly associated with aging and enlarged prostates, PBNO can also affect younger men and often goes unrecognised. Symptoms such as a weak urinary stream, increased urinary frequency, and difficulty urinating are often overlooked, delaying diagnosis and increasing the risk of chronic bladder dysfunction, recurrent urinary tract infections, and, in severe cases, kidney damage. Early evaluation is therefore essential to prevent long-term complications.  
 
To address this unmet need, the iTIND system offers a tissue-sparing alternative to conventional surgery. Inserted through a brief endoscopic procedure under mild sedation, the temporary device gently reshapes the bladder neck and prostatic urethra over five to seven days before being removed during a short follow-up visit. For appropriately selected patients, the procedure relieves urinary obstruction while preserving ejaculatory function and fertility.
