Powering Health-Apollo Hospitals and Coal India Join Hands to Transform Coal Workers' Healthcare
Apollo Hospitals have entered a partnership with Coal India Limited to provide quality healthcare services to more than 2.5 lakh employees, 5 lakh pensioners, and their families across the country. This historic partnership aims at improving access to quality health services by providing comprehensive medical treatment, along with preventive health programs, through Apollo's 44 hospitals across the country.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed in Chennai in the presence of Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals and Dr. Vinay Ranjan, Director (HR), Coal India Limited. Senior officials from Coal India and Apollo Hospitals were also present on the occasion.
The tie-up is in line with Coal India's belief in the welfare of its workforce, which powers nearly 70% of the country's energy requirements. For employees and retirees, medical treatment on tariff basis replaces the earlier payments on the CGHS rate, ensuring easier accessibility and better affordability. Cashless medical treatment is provided through an integrated referral and billing process between Apollo Hospitals and the medical departments of Coal India.
Beyond treatment, the initiative emphasises preventive health screenings and community wellness programs designed to improve workforce productivity and protect the well-being of coal workers and their families. This partnership is a great example of industrial leadership combined with social responsibility, integrating Swachh Bharat with Viksit Bharat.
