Dr Ankur Gupta is a senior Critical Care Medicine specialist with over 15 years of clinical, academic, and leadership experience in intensive care medicine. He currently serves as Consultant Critical Care and Head of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Apollo Hospitals, a position he has held since 2019, after previously leading the same department from 2013 to 2018. His professional journey includes roles at Shalby Multispeciality Hospital, Global Hospital and Research Centre, and Bombay Hospital. He completed his MBBS from MGM Medical College and further specialized through FCCCM-IBMS (USA), Fellowship in Intensive Care Medicine (FICM), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious Diseases from University of New South Wales.
Recognized nationally for his contributions to critical care, Dr Gupta received the prestigious "Best Doctor of the Year (Critical Care) 2015" award at the Six Sigma Healthcare Excellence Awards. His clinical interests include Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), lung recruitment strategies, prone ventilation, sepsis management, infection control, and critical care research. Beyond patient care, he is actively involved in medical education, serving as an examiner and recognized teacher for the Indo-Australian Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine.
He has held leadership positions including Founder President of Educational Society of Bedside Intensive Care Medicine (ESBICM), State Secretary of the Critical Care Education Foundation, and Academic Council Member of the College of Critical Care Medicine. He has also contributed to research, publications, organ donation initiatives, and medical education through books, journals, and online platforms.
