Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai Introduces Gamma Camera and SPECT-CT Nuclear Imaging Services

Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai will commence Gamma Camera and SPECT-CT nuclear imaging services from August 24, 2026, expanding access to nuclear medicine imaging across specialties including Oncology, Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, and Orthopedics.  

Nuclear medicine imaging uses small amounts of radioactive tracers to provide information about physiological processes within the body. Single-photon emission computed tomography combined with computed tomography (SPECT-CT) brings together functional information from SPECT with the anatomical detail provided by CT. This allows areas of abnormal tracer uptake to be more precisely localized and interpreted within their anatomical context.  

The new services will support a broad range of investigations, including brain and myocardial perfusion studies, thyroid and parathyroid scans, renal scans, bone scans, lung perfusion imaging, sentinel node imaging, and other organ-specific nuclear medicine studies. Gamma camera and SPECT-CT imaging are established components of nuclear medicine, with applications across a range of diagnostic and clinical settings.  

By integrating information about how tissues and organs function with where abnormalities are located, SPECT-CT can provide clinicians with complementary insights for diagnosis, disease monitoring, and treatment planning. The addition expands nuclear medicine imaging capabilities at Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, supporting informed clinical decision-making and individualized patient care.
