Dr. (Prof.) Vishwanath S is a distinguished Medical Oncologist with over 20 years of experience in cancer care, with expertise spanning both solid tumours and hematological malignancies. As Lead of OncoSciences for the Karnataka region and Senior Consultant & Academic Advisor at Apollo Hospitals, Bengaluru, he combines extensive clinical experience with a strong commitment to academic medicine, research, multidisciplinary cancer care, and the adoption of emerging therapies including cellular therapy and precision oncology.
He completed his Clinical Fellowship in Cancer Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, USA, and holds a DM in Medical Oncology from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru, along with an MD in Internal Medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.
His clinical expertise encompasses lymphomas, multiple myeloma, leukemia, CAR-T cell therapy, lung cancer, head and neck cancers, breast cancer, gastrointestinal and gynecological cancers, sarcomas, and autologous stem cell transplantation. He has a particular interest in the integration of multidisciplinary cancer care with newer systemic therapies, cellular therapies, precision oncology, and evidence-based treatment approaches to deliver personalised cancer care.
An active academician and researcher, Dr. Vishwanath has authored more than 45 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and has received several academic honours, including gold medals in MD Internal Medicine, DM in medical oncology, the ASH Abstract Achievement Award, AHERF Promising Clinician Award, and Professorship from the Apollo Hospitals Education & Research Foundation.
He is actively involved in international oncology education and professional development through his association with ASCO, including participation in its Educational and Cancer Communications committees. He is also the Co-Founder and Managing Trustee of CPOEM Foundation, an initiative dedicated to advancing oncology education and supporting patients and caregivers.
