Apollo CVHF Hospital has launched Gujarat’s first dedicated robotic cardiac surgery unit with the addition of a second Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, marking a significant advancement in minimally invasive cardiac care. Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, has achieved a global milestone by successfully performing rare, life-saving living-donor liver transplants on 23-month-old twin brothers from the Philippines. The procedures mark the hospital's first pediatric twin liver transplant among more than 645 pediatric liver transplants completed to date, further reinforcing its leadership in advanced pediatric transplant care.  Born prematurely and weighing just 2 kg and 2.4 kg, the twins developed prolonged jaundice and pale stools within two weeks of birth. Further evaluation revealed a Type IVA choledochal cyst, a rare congenital condition affecting the bile ducts inside and outside the liver that rapidly progressed to liver failure in both twins. Despite receiving extensive medical care, they experienced recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal fluid accumulation, poor growth, and repeated hospitalizations, leaving liver transplantation as their only life-saving option. The family traveled to India to access specialized liver transplant care, as transplant services remain limited and the procedure is significantly more expensive in the Philippines.    A multidisciplinary team of 10 specialists, led by Dr. Anupam Sibal, Group Medical Director and Senior Pediatric Gastroenterologist, and Dr. Neerav Goyal, Senior Consultant and Head of Liver Transplant Surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, performed two complex back-to-back living-donor liver transplants, each lasting approximately 14 hours. As the twins' father was medically ineligible to donate, their mother donated approximately 20% of her liver to one child, while their maternal uncle donated part of his liver to the other. Both donor liver grafts were carefully reduced in size to safely fit each infant. The twins and their donors are recovering well, and their long-term care will continue through close collaboration between pediatric hepatologists in the Philippines and Apollo's transplant specialists, supported by regular follow-up and remote clinical review.   Lt. Apollo Hospitals Guwahati has achieved a significant milestone in cardiac care by successfully performing Northeast India's first Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Closure procedure, bringing new hope to thousands of patients living with atrial fibrillation (AF), who are unable to safely remain on long-term blood-thinning medications. The landmark procedure was performed on a 66-year-old patient with atrial fibrillation and a previous brain hemorrhage, making continued blood-thinning medications unsafe. She noted that introducing this advanced therapy locally enables patients to access specialized treatment within the region, reducing the need to travel elsewhere for care. With LAA Closure now available at Apollo Hospitals Guwahati, patients can access advanced cardiac care closer to home.     Atrial fibrillation is a common heart rhythm disorder that increases the risk of stroke by allowing blood clots to form inside a small pouch of the heart (the left atrial appendage). While blood-thinning medications remain the standard treatment to prevent stroke, they may not be safe for patients with a history of serious bleeding. LAA Closure offers an evidence-based alternative by permanently sealing the appendage through a minimally invasive, catheter-based procedure, reducing stroke risk in appropriately selected patients without the need for open-heart surgery or lifelong anticoagulation.

Apollo Children's Hospital, Chennai, has launched South India's first Centre of Excellence in Pediatric Robotic Urology, marking a significant milestone in advancing minimally invasive surgical care for children. Established in 2012 under the leadership of Dr. V. Sripathi, Senior Consultant Pediatric Urologist and Robotic Surgeon, the programme has grown into one of India's pioneering pediatric robotic urology initiatives and South India's first dedicated centre of its kind over the years, setting new benchmarks in clinical excellence, innovation, and patient outcomes. Apollo Hospitals Seshadripuram has commissioned its second Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab), strengthening its ability to deliver timely cardiac interventions and meet the growing demand for specialised heart care across Bengaluru and neighbouring regions. The facility was inaugurated by renowned cardiologist and Member of Parliament, Dr. CN Manjunath, in the presence of senior specialists from the hospital’s Cardiac Sciences team, along with Mr. Akshay Oleti, CEO, Apollo Hospitals, Karnataka Region, and Mr. Uday Davda, Vice-President, Apollo Hospitals Sheshadripuram.    The hospital currently manages over 4,000 cardiac cases annually, with its first Cath Lab supporting more than 27,000 procedures since 2015.
